Do you love Deer Hollow Farm? Do you have a few hours a month to ensure that the Farm stays strong for decades to come?
Friends of Deer Hollow Farm (FODHF), an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, is seeking additional Board members.
FODHF has raised more than $1.1 million for the Farm, paying for animal care and feed, vet bills, field trip tuition and busing, Farm operations, and improvements.
FODHF is critical to the continued preservation of Deer Hollow Farm. We’ve funded more than $100,000 in capital improvements at the Farm. Recently we received a $75,000 grant from the County of Santa Clara to pay for tuition and busing for more than 2,500 student field trips for each of the next three years. FODHF was also named a recipient of an $11,000 award as part of Sereno Real Estate’s 1% For Good Program. Our Spring Farm Tour drew visitors from 27 different Bay Area cities and raised more than $6,000 for the animals.
In the past seven years, FODHF annual fund-raising has increased fivefold to more than $180,000. We’re writing more grants, managing online fund-raising campaigns, and doing more outreach to the community. Communications and social media skills are critical now, as is grant writing. We need a constant flow of new ideas. Business skills are important as well.
Mountain View has recognized FODHF as a very effective nonprofit in a recent City Proclamation. New Board members are needed to help it get even better.
